Discovery History

Cranial Nerve Zero was first identified in humans in 1913 by anatomist Gustav Fritsch, though it had been observed in other vertebrates earlier. Despite being present in all humans, CN0 is often omitted from standard anatomy textbooks.

Why Was It Overlooked?

Several factors contributed to CN0 remaining obscure:
