Alpha-androstadienol (androsta-5,16-dien-3ฮฑ-ol) is the alpha stereoisomer of 5,16-androstadienol, differing from the beta isomer in the spatial orientation of the hydroxyl group at the 3-position (3ฮฑ vs 3ฮฒ).

What It Is
Alpha-androstadienol (CโโHโโO, MW 272.43) is a C19 androstadiene with double bonds at C-5 and C-16, and a 3ฮฑ-hydroxyl group. The 3ฮฑ orientation is the same as alpha-androsterone and alpha-androstenol. The two double bonds provide high volatility. Detected via VNO (theoretical โ no specific detection studies exist for this isomer).
Evidence Warning: There is no confirmed single-molecule user testing data for alpha-androstadienol specifically. The CAS number is not documented in major chemical databases. The beta isomer (CAS 1224-94-8) is the commercially available form from Steraloids and other suppliers. When community members discuss "androstadienol," they almost certainly have the beta isomer or do not distinguish between isomers.
CAS Note: The commonly cited CAS 1224-94-8 refers specifically to the beta (3ฮฒ-OH) isomer. The alpha (3ฮฑ-OH) isomer does not appear to have a well-documented CAS number, suggesting it may not be commercially available as a distinct product.
