Overview
Methoxyestratetraenol (MEO-NOL) is the methyl ether derivative of estratetraenol β the -OH (alcohol) variant, not the ketone. This is a critical distinction: MEO-NOL and methoxyestratetraenone (MEO-EST-one) are different compounds with different safety profiles.
Alpha Dream (Chris) was the primary advocate for the -nol variant, working to purify it to 99% in 2012 while simultaneously refusing to stock the -one variant on safety grounds:

Note: Most community reports labeled "MEO-EST" don't specify which variant. As of late 2011, user dbot noted that nobody had tested the -nol version β all early reports were about the -one. Pharmacology
What It Is
Methoxyestratetraenol (CββHββO, MW 268.39, CAS 28336-31-4) is the methyl ether of estratetraenol β the 3-hydroxyl group is capped with a methyl group (-OCHβ instead of -OH). This is a stable modification: the methyl ether bond is NOT cleaved by the body, so this is NOT a prodrug β it acts as its own distinct compound.
Key Properties
- Non-estrogenic β the C16=C17 double bond + methoxy group eliminate estrogen receptor binding. This is why Alpha Dream considered it safe while rejecting the ketone variant.
- Slightly more volatile than EST β blocking the -OH removes hydrogen bonding capacity, lowering intermolecular attraction
- Detected via VNO at close range
Known Products
The -nol is much rarer than the -one in commercial products:
- Impi Red Dot (Pago/ApexPheromones) β user Ekscentra confirmed: "Impi for sure contains MeO-NOL. I'd spot that one from a mile away."
- Alpha Dream concentrates (planned 2012) β Chris was purifying MEO-NOL to 99% but it's unclear if it was released as a standalone single molecule
- Pago β at least one tester reported buying MEO-NOL directly from Pago
Most products labeled "MEO-EST" on the market contain the -one variant (likely equilin methyl ether, CAS 6030-83-7), not this compound.
Naming Confusion
The community uses "MEO-EST" for both the -nol and the -one. This has caused decades of confused reports:
